What are cookies?

A cookie is a file that stores the settings of websites. Cookies are stored by websites on users' devices used to access the internet in order to identify individual devices and the settings used by users to access the internet. Cookies allow websites to recognise if a user has visited that website before and, in the case of advanced applications, they can be used to adjust individual settings accordingly. Their storage is under the full control of the browser used by the user - which can restrict or disable the storage of cookies if desired.

Why are cookies necessary?

Cookies are essential for providing user-friendly online services; the most common e- commerce functions would not be possible without cookies. Cookies make the interaction between the web user and the website faster and easier. They help the website to remember the individual's preferences and experience, making browsing more efficient and enjoyable. There are several reasons for using cookies. They are used to store information about the state of a particular website (details about the customisation of a particular website), they help to provide online services (e.g. online shops), they help to collect statistics about users and website traffic, about the habits of the website user, etc. Cookies can therefore be used to evaluate the effectiveness of our website design. You can also read the Information Commissioner's guidelines on the use of cookies on websites, which can be found here.

The cookies we use on our website do not collect personally identifiable information about you and cannot damage your computer, tablet or mobile phone. Cookies make our website work and help us understand what information is most useful to visitors.

Notification

By using this website, you agree to this website setting cookies on your computer or mobile device.

Managing and deleting cookies

If you wish to change the way cookies are used in your browser, including blocking or deleting them, you can do so by changing your browser settings accordingly. To manage cookies, most browsers allow you to accept or reject all cookies, accept only a certain type of cookie, or warn you that a page wants to store a cookie. You can also easily delete cookies that have been stored by your browser. If you change or delete your browser's cookie file, or change or reward your browser or device, you may need to disable cookies again. The process for managing and deleting cookies varies from browser to browser. If you need help with this, you can consult your browser's help section.
